Hard to believe that the entire left side of Narrow Street had to be wiped off the map but with a maximum width only just exceeding 20 feet, something had to give.
As a guide, most of Narrow Street would be no wider than the gap between Midland Bank and the tree on the left of the recent image.
The irony is that today’s move towards pedestrianised city centres would have made Narrow Street quite viable !
